Abstract:

The main limiting factors in saline-sodic soils are high amounts of salts, low soil organic matter (SOM) and lowavailability of macro and micro-nutrients. The effect of different amounts of nano iron oxide powder and urban solidwaste compost coated sulfur (USWCS) on the chemical properties of a saline-sodic soil was investigated. The experimentwas conducted using a randomized complete block design with factorial arrangement and three replications, in a farmnear Qom city. Treatments used in this study included USWCS (0 and 15 ton/ha) and nano iron oxide powder (0 and 20mg/kg); treatments were applied to treated plots of 4 m2 and sunflower seeds were sown. The results show that 20 mg/kgof nano-iron oxide, significantly (P

Applying Biochar and Mineral Amendments to Remediate the Chemical Properties of a Saline-Sodic Soil

The present study was intended to improve the chemical properties of a saline-sodic soil using the individual application of alfalfa residue and two biochars produced from sugarcane bagasse and walnut shell, at the weighting ratio of 5%; their concomitant application with gypsum, aluminum sulfate and the mixture of these two chemical amendments was considered. The experiment was conducted in th...

environmental effects of gol-e-gohar iron ore mine on groundwater of the area

gol-e-gohar iron ore mine of sirjan in southern part of iran is a large open pit that operates below the groundwater table and during mining operation, dewatering is required to prevent operation processes from flooding. current operation is going on by digging wells in or out of the pit and pumping to prevent flooding. as a result of the former dewatering operation a vast deep cone of depressi...

Effect of Urban Waste Compost Leachate on the Soil Physical, Hydraulic, Moisture Characteristics and Corn Yield

Compost leachate is a liquid resulting from physical, chemical and biological decomposition of organic materials. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of leachate compost on the physical, hydraulic and soil moisture characteristic curves. Also, the effect of leachate on the aerial organ fresh weight of corn was investigated. Leachate was added to clay loam and sandy cl...
